Atlanta was awesome!

WOW! Atlanta sure was a blast! I think that this has been one of the most memorable competitions that I have ever been to. I went down with Amanda and DJ and we got a room in the 3 star Regency Suites. I think that it was struggling to get that 3rd start. Anyway, what at time I had. I was finally able to meet and hang out with a buch of buch of awesome robotics people. For the past few years, ChiefDelphi has hosted the annual web hug where a bunch of the posters get together and talk about stats, finally match usernames to faces and to give out some awards. I got a t-shirt for the second most moderations. Some people dont like that I moderate though ;) . Every night a big group of use went out to hang out at bars and resturantes with some awesome engineers and mentors. Some of us even got autographs by some heros. One of the sucky things that I had to endur was watching Dave, Aiden, Tom, Amanda, Stu, and Erin ride on their Segways while the rest of us just had to walk behind them after some long days. I now am seriously considering taking out a loan to buy me a Segway. I probally should pay off my truck first but I am up for the challenge, I am John V-Neun. One night we all conspired and decided to hang out in 229’s world’s smallest hotel room. We even had one person, which happened to be female and caused all kinds of trouble including kicking ice buckets all over some guy’s crotch and also throwing a punch right in the jaw, but paybacks are a bitch. One valuable lesson that I did learn was to not call somebody when you get stuck on an elevator because everybody will see it. :)

This year had to be the best year that I have ever had in my life and in robotics. The relationships you have and people you meet in FIRST is not something that you can get anywhere else. I have been inspited to continue in FIRST for a very very long time.

I just wanted to give a shout out to these awesome people that have touched me one way or another because of FIRST.

Scott, Libby, Steve, Stacie, Chris, Jason, Collin, Courtney, Hannah, Jenny, Ryan, Taylor, Ryan, Sarah, Eric, Mike, Stu, Phil, Jessi, DJ, Molly, Clark, Kyle, Andy, Woodie, Dean, Paul, Dave, Daver, Tom, Amanda, Jason, Hut, Ken, Kenny, Brant, Chris, Adrienne, Eleanor, Stacy, Raul, Paul, Ken, Ben, Steve, Brandon, Michael, Jeff, Bill, Joel, Eric, John V-Neun, Aidan, Dan…. etc.

I know there are a lot more people who I am missing, but those are a few people that I have been looking up to through the years and some that I have met or finally have been able to meet this year. All of you guys Rock!!

Long live FIRST!

Punk’d!!!!

So today was April fools… I got fooled quite a few times today. First, when dj left an IM saying he wasn’t going to be able to go to Nationals in Atlanta. Yes, I did believe that one. And at work when I believed that the LHTEC management decided to cut the ETS system I’m leading because of the Commanche being cancelled!! >:o Not very funny guys. But I did have a GREAT one that I did on Sarah today. :D I told her that Scott had been in a really bad car accident and that he was at the hospital with massive blood loss, head injuries, amputated limbs and so on…. Boy did I have her concerned!! I could only go so far because I was worried that she was going to start driving up here. The voice mail message left waiting for me when I came back from dinner started out as: “David, you are such an asshole!! I cannot believe you did that to me!!!”

Oh my! I usually am not very good at pranks but that has to be the best ever!!

Sarie, you know you had that coming, you deserved that after all you have done to me!!! you know your my favorite :D
